In this session, you’ll learn how to open Action Centre, review notifications and control aspects of your device, including tablet mode, night light, screen brightness and focus assist.
To open Action Centre, view your notifications and adjust the settings for your device, click the Notifications icon in the lower right corner of your screen.
If you prefer a keyboard shortcut, you can hold down the Windows key and tap A and Action Centre will open.
If you have a touch screen device, you can swipe your finger in from the right edge of the screen towards the middle of the screen.
From time to time Windows 10 will provide notifications of events. They might be security alerts, software updates, confirmation of events etc.
You’ll first see a notification pop up in the lower-right corner of your desktop, it will then fade away after a few seconds. To reveal that notification and any others that you might have missed, open Action Centre and the notifications will be listed at the top of the panel. Click the notification for more detail.
When you first open Action Centre, you’ll be shown a subset of the available tools. Click Expand to reveal more tools.
To reduce the tools on view, click Collapse.
The tools that are available to colleagues within Action Centre will vary, because of the various devices we use. Some of the most commonly used Action Centre tools include the following:
